I think that you would be more satisfied playing as Warrior or Dervish. While Paragon also has remnants of the Paladin class, I believe the first two are more similar... esp. in the way they feel as you actually play them. Warrior is one of the easiest professions to learn as well, plus the armor looks more like a traditional Paladin then either of the other two.

With that said, if you enter GW constantly comparing it to other games then you are more likely to be disappointed with it. GW is it's own game and deserves to be played (and Enjoyed!!!) on it's own merits. You will have allot more fun if you look at it in that fashion.
